Riviera dei fiori

L’uriveu (The olive-grove)

From Frantoio Pantai to Vallun da Briga

Time taken for the journey: 3 hours

From the small town of Boscomare, go down along the ridge and you’ll arrive at the old parish valley of San Siro. If you continue you will reach the Tana river, near the olive-press “Pantai” (30 minutes from Boscomare). Here cross the Tana river and go up to Pietrabruna you will walk along the mule-track made of river cobblestones (rissoei) (this slope is called “Muntà de San Gregoiu”, slope of Saint Gregorio). Walk past the churchyard of Pietrabruna with Saint Gregorio’s Church (XII sec.). After the first houses of the small town of Pietrabruna, turn left, this is an asphalt road, it takes to Boscomare through olive-groves. Here you can find centuries-old olive-trees and rivers, that have evocative names. In the north part there aren’t olive-trees but there are oak woods, hornbeam woods and chestnut copse. Return to Boscomare walking through the ground where they play the typical game of the region “balun au pugnu”, it is a game played with a small ball hit with the players’ hands.

1 Pantai: pantano, cioè zona ricca d’acqua in superficie.
