 Stroscia

Every village or region has its own culinary dish. The typical dish of Pietrabruna is “ stroscia”. If you know “ stroscia “ you know Pietrabruna, because the delicious taste and peculiarity of this dessert have made Pietrabruna popular . On 21st September, St Matthew ‘s day, in every household you can find “stroscia”, to be tasted within the family or shared with visitors or people from the village who live elsewhere and gather in Pietrabruna every year to celebrate the Patron Saint.

A zeraria

“Zeraria” was the typical dish of Christmas, New year’s Day and Carnival. This jelly meat was originally served in taverns.

"Friscïoi" of codfish

It is a savoury dish typical of the period of Lent. Following an old tradition,  in the evening of Maundy Thursday the Confraternity of Lord gathers for a banquet to recall  the last supper  of Jesus and his Apostles. The basic dish of the dinner consists of croquettes of codfish .
This tradition has come to an end  in the  villages where  old confraternities no longer exist, but in Pietrabruna both the confraternity and the traditional banquet have survived.
